Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide built on tuftsin, a four-amino-acid fragment of an immunoglobulin, with a proline-glycine-proline tail added for stability. It was developed in Russia, where it is registered as a nasal formulation; it is not approved by the FDA. Lyophilized research vials are commonly 5, 10 or 30 mg.

How the Selank numbers are worked out
Concentration is the vial mass divided by the water: 10 mg in 2 mL is 5.00 mg/mL; 30 mg in 3 mL is 10.00 mg/mL.
Volume is the amount divided by the concentration, and a U-100 syringe reads 100 units per mL. 1 mg from a 10 mg vial at 2 mL is 20 units (0.2 mL); from a 30 mg vial at 3 mL it is 10 units (0.1 mL).
A 30 mg vial with 3 mL is twice as concentrated as a 10 mg vial with 2 mL, so the same amount reads half as many units.

Does this calculator work for Selank nasal spray?
No. A syringe reading has no meaning for a spray, which is measured by the volume each actuation delivers, and that varies by device. This page covers lyophilized vials only.
