SS-31 (elamipretide) vial calculator
Concentration, volume and U-100 units for 5, 10 and 20 mg SS-31 vials.
SS-31, also called elamipretide, is a small mitochondria-targeted tetrapeptide. Research-labelled vials are commonly 5, 10 or 20 mg, and the amounts described in community sources range from a few hundred micrograms to several milligrams, so the reading on the syringe varies widely.
The calculator returns the concentration, the volume in mL and the U-100 reading for any vial, water volume and amount, along with the number of amounts the vial holds.

Results are arithmetic from the three numbers entered. U-100 scale: 100 units = 1 mL. Presets are figures reported in published and community sources, offered as shortcuts, not recommendations. The vial label is the number to trust.
Setups entered by researchers
Not enough SS-31 calculations have been logged yet to publish a breakdown. A peptide's setups appear here once it passes 100 calculations and a setup has been entered at least 30 times. How the setup data works.

How the SS-31 numbers are worked out
Concentration is vial mass divided by water: 10 mg in 2 mL is 5.00 mg/mL; 20 mg in 2 mL is 10.00 mg/mL.
Volume is the amount divided by the concentration, and a U-100 syringe reads 100 units per mL. 500 mcg from a 10 mg vial at 2 mL is 10 units (0.1 mL).
Milligram-range amounts at lower concentrations can pass 100 units, which the calculator flags.

SS-31 calculator questions
How many units is 500 mcg of SS-31 from a 10 mg vial?
With 2 mL of water the vial is 5.00 mg/mL, so 500 mcg is 10 units (0.1 mL). The vial holds 20 amounts of 500 mcg.
How many units is 1 mg of SS-31?
From a 5 mg vial with 2 mL, 40 units (0.4 mL). From a 10 mg vial with 2 mL, 20 units (0.2 mL). From a 20 mg vial with 2 mL, 10 units (0.1 mL).
Why can a 5 mg amount exceed one syringe?
At 3.33 mg/mL (10 mg in 3 mL), 5 mg is 150 units (1.5 mL), more than a 1 mL syringe holds. Less water, or a larger vial with the same water, brings the volume down.
Is SS-31 the same thing as elamipretide?
Yes, SS-31 is the research code name for the compound developed as elamipretide. Research-labelled vials are a separate product from any pharmaceutical form, and the arithmetic here uses only the mass on the vial label.
What SS-31 amounts do community sources report?
Community sources describe amounts from around 500 mcg up to several mg. Clinical studies of elamipretide have used their own protocols. The presets reflect community-reported figures and are not a recommendation.
