TB-500 reconstitution calculator

Concentration, draw volume and U-100 units for TB-500 vials from 2 to 30 mg.

TB-500 is the name research vendors use for a synthetic peptide related to thymosin beta-4. Depending on the supplier it is described either as a short fragment of that 43-amino-acid protein or as the full sequence, so the vial label is the reference for what it holds. Vials run from 2 mg to 30 mg, and community-reported amounts range from about 500 mcg to 2.5 mg.

That spread makes the water volume matter. A 2.5 mg amount from a 5 mg vial with 2 mL is a full 1 mL syringe, while the same amount from a 10 mg vial with 2 mL is half of one. The calculator returns the concentration, volume, U-100 reading and amounts per vial, and flags any reading larger than the syringe selected.

Results are arithmetic from the three numbers entered. U-100 scale: 100 units = 1 mL. Presets are figures reported in published and community sources, offered as shortcuts, not recommendations. The vial label is the number to trust.

Setups entered by researchers

Not enough TB-500 calculations have been logged yet to publish a breakdown. A peptide's setups appear here once it passes 100 calculations and a setup has been entered at least 30 times. How the setup data works.

How the TB-500 numbers are worked out

Concentration is the vial mass divided by the water: 5 mg in 2 mL is 2.50 mg/mL, 10 mg in 2 mL is 5.00 mg/mL.

The volume for an amount is the amount divided by the concentration; a U-100 syringe reads 100 units per mL. 2.5 mg from a 5 mg vial at 2 mL is 100 units (1 mL); from a 10 mg vial at 2 mL it is 50 units (0.5 mL).

Milligram-scale amounts at low concentrations take up more than one syringe. Only a higher concentration, meaning less water or a larger vial with the same water, brings the volume per mg down.

Research summaries and vendor comparisons for TB-500 are covered in a TB-500 research overview.

TB-500 calculator questions

How many units is 2.5 mg of TB-500 from a 10 mg vial?

With 2 mL of water the vial is 5.00 mg/mL, so 2.5 mg is 50 units (0.5 mL). With 3 mL it is 75 units (0.75 mL), and with 4 mL 100 units (1 mL). The vial holds 4 amounts of 2.5 mg.

How many units is 500 mcg of TB-500 from a 5 mg vial?

With 2 mL, 20 units (0.2 mL). With 1 mL, 10 units (0.1 mL). The vial holds 10 amounts of 500 mcg.

Why does a 2 mg TB-500 amount not fit in one syringe?

From a 2 mg vial with 1 mL, 2 mg is 100 units (1 mL), exactly one 1 mL syringe. With 2 mL it is 200 units (2 mL), twice what a 1 mL syringe holds. A 2 mg vial contains only one 2 mg amount whatever the water.

How are 20 and 30 mg TB-500 vials calculated?

The same way as any size. 20 mg with 4 mL and 30 mg with 6 mL are both 5.00 mg/mL, the same as 10 mg with 2 mL, so 1 mg is 20 units (0.2 mL) in each case. The larger vials hold 20 and 30 amounts of 1 mg.

Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?

Not always. Some suppliers use TB-500 for a short synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4 and list the full-length protein separately; others use the names interchangeably. The arithmetic here uses only the mass printed on the vial label.

What TB-500 amounts do community sources report?

Community sources describe two broad patterns: smaller amounts around 500 mcg on a frequent schedule, and larger amounts of 2 to 2.5 mg on a less frequent one. The presets cover both ranges to save typing; they are not a recommendation.
